Okay, so I completely missed the partial solar eclipse that happened on the 1st August, although since it was cloudy, I don't think I missed much!

However, having just watched The Sky at Night (how is Sir Patrick Moore still alive - he's been old for about 30 years!) and they mentioned a couple of things.

1 - The Perseid meteor shower. The peak time is in the middle of the day here in the UK, so the best bet is to go out the night of the 11th-12th August or the night of the 12th-13th August, which is either side of the peak time.

2 - A partial lunar eclipse on the night of August 16th. It's an 80% eclipse, so should be pretty good.

(I'm hoping that if I post this here, I might actually remember!)

Keep your fingers crossed that the weather cooperates. I think I'll go out to see if I can see the Perseids on the 11th-12th, because the day I'm in Edinburgh, which isn't going to be much good!
