I'm rewatching Alias Season One at the moment, because I felt awful on Sunday (that time of the month, unfortunately, although the timing was great: Saturday was climbing, so it was a good job I wasn't in pain, and Monday I'm back at work) and decided to dig out Alias Season One (it's the only DVDs of Alias I have at the moment: [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris has my Season Two, and my Seasons Three and Four are with my parents!).

It's weird watching it now, since it's been so long since I last saw Season One. Knowing now what I know, it makes me view some of the characters in a new light! And I'd forgotten that Sark was in so many episodes! I thought he was only in about 3 at the end, but in fact he's in quite a few! I deliberately watched The Coup after the fantastic double episode that is The Box because the name of it hit a chord, and I knew it was the first Sark one! *g*

Oh, and speaking of The Box, Quentin Tarantino gets the best music for his entrance!! Naturally! He probably picked it! *g*

This is going to go behind a cut, otherwise [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris will kill me, but if you've read my previous post about Alias, then you'll know what this is.

'The' list )

Yes, I finally got to see almost all of Season 3 Alias.

On Wednesday night, [livejournal.com profile] kyizi, my flatmate, and I went to see Secret Window [in which Johnny Depp is yummy as usual!], and then got home in time to watch ER [mmmm, Luka!], Fraiser, and the double bill of Season 1 Sex & the City. After that, I had an idea for fixing my computer. I tried it, and failed, but then when I looked at the Help, it mentioned something about the volume being too high. So as I was changing the volume controls, I realised that when I turned down the "line in" volume, the sound quality was getting better. Eventually, I muted it, and the sound was back to normal. If it hadn't been about 1 in the morning, I would have been running around singing. As it was, I was doing a little hyper dance quietly in bed.

And, since [livejournal.com profile] kyizi had given me Alias episodes 12-19 that evening, guess what I did? *g*

So, what follows are my random comments on those episodes.

Alias; Season 3 rant + spoilers )

I haven't actually really done anything else [I wrote that last night, whilst everything was still in my memory.] except watched a few more episodes of Stargate SG-1, since by the time I'd finished watching Alias, it was too late to attempt to do any work.

But, now I'm off to make a banner for the meeting between [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris, [livejournal.com profile] kyizi, and myself, and [livejournal.com profile] eretria and [livejournal.com profile] murron on Monday. Hurray, I can't wait!
heliona: (Default)
Hey, everyone, in case you haven't heard, there's you can vote for Jen Garner, Alias, and David Anders, as Best Actress, Best TV Show, and Best Newcomer on:http://www.syfyportal.com

I've been DLing photos of [livejournal.com profile] kyizi's favourite underage man, Daniel Radcliffe, since I realised that I had hardly any photos of him! Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] kyizi, if you haven't got that many of him, there are some really good ones at www.danradcliffe.co.uk.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris has been and bought me David and Leigh Eddings' new book, The Elder Gods since I have all of the Belgariad, the Mallorean, the Elenium, and the Tamuli, apart from The Rivan Codex and I also have The Redemption of Althalus. I figured I should get the next book written by them!

Haven't done much else, although I returned to my "Body in Balance" class yesterday, which is a misture of Tai Chi, Pilates, and Yoga. Because I haven't been in a while, I'm incredibly sore today. My lower stomach muscles hurt, as do my upper arms and chest. Argh! I suppose it's doing me good, but a long hot soak in the bath is called for tonight!

Okay, this is hilarious. I found it via [livejournal.com profile] slowfox: Lord of the Rings PhD style

Spent almost all of the early morning talking with [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and my flatmate. Didn't get to bed until about 5! We watched Stephen King's IT which Lynne and I had seen, but [livejournal.com profile] kyizi hadn't. It was a bit disappointing really, since we'd seen it when we were 10 and 12, and rewatching it, we realised it was a bit dated. But, since I'm a wuss when it comes to horror films, I still jumped, and Lynne and I hid our heads when we knew there were scary clown bits coming up.

After that, [livejournal.com profile] kyizi told us some really amusing dreams. That kept us entertained for hours.

Nothing else has happened, except that I'm getting PS7 today, woohoo! Also, I should be getting Alias soon, and despite [livejournal.com profile] kyizi delaying because she's saying that Doyle (my computer) isn't working so I can't watch them, I fully intend to burn them to VCD so I can watch them on a DVD player, since I don't know when I'll be able to get Alias Season 3 on DVD. Also, fingers crossed, a friend of mine might be able to fix Doyle without much trouble.

Blah!

Boring subject title because I couldn't think of anything else.

Now, in honour of the old Season 3 Sark that we know and love, I did this manip this morning (it was also experimenting with putting images into fonts).

Check it out. Our Man Sark

In other news, well, I have no other news.

I've discovered that the University thinks that I'm still doing the MSci course, when I dropped down to the BSc course at the beginning of this year. So I've got to go and sort that out pronto, since exams start pretty soon (am trying not think about that!).

Other than that, nope, no news at all. Although will be getting some more of Alias Season 3 soon. However, Doyle is still not fixed, so that will mean I'll have to convert them to some format so that I can watch them on my DVD player. Grr! Will have to go and get more CDs to burn onto.

Right, I'm off to do constructive stuff. See ya all later!

Randomness

Okay, for starters, I have to see Elektra now: Goran Visnjic in Elektra

Also, Alias Season 3 DVD (Region 1) comes out on September 7th. And no matter how crappy it may be at the moment, I'm going to be getting my sticky little hands on it one way or the other.

In other news, I spent 3 hours on Friday night changing my website diary page, and another hour today, making sure it had uploaded properly. There is now a proper Blog-like diary there, and, despite looking crappy on 800x600 resolution, it looks fantastic. *g*

Also, I got Due South Season 2 on Saturday morning. I had to pay Customs on it, which I wasn't pleased about, since I never had to pay Customs on either Alias or my Frankie Muniz DVDs. Grr! It means that when Due South Season 1 comes, I'll have to pay £12 on that as well.

I did get some frights whilst watching it, though. (I discovered pleasantly that I'd only seen about half the season before.) Carrie-Anne Moss of Trinity-Matrix fame was in an episode called Juliet is Bleeding, playing Ray's one true love, and Amanda Tapping (Major Sam Carter in Stargate SG-1) was in an episode called Starman. The Amanda Tapping episode was rather like deja-vu, since she played a scientist who worked for the military on a top-secret experiment involving alien spaceships! *g*

I went to the Postgraduate's Club on Saturday night with [livejournal.com profile] nimoloth to see her friend's funk band play. It was really good. There was a free BBQ there as well, and the drinks were really cheap, so the whole night only cost about £2! It was fabulous. I need more nights out like that!

Other than that, I've not been doing much, just watching Due South and bemoaning the fact that there aren't any extras on it. *pout*

And the sun's out and it's gorgeous! I'm actually showing my legs. (Although they're not as white as normal, since I'm trying out some tanning mousse stuff on them, in the theory that if it doesn't work, then I can always go back to wearing trousers until it washes off!)

Well, according to Alias Media, the Alias season finale is currently scheduled for the 23rd of May. Just when my exams start - oh joy!

In other news, went to see Hidalgo yesterday, and yes, I cried. But not for the reason that I thought. It was one of those films that you can't help crying at (although my flatmate didn't, but she doesn't tend to cry at films). Seeing as I cry when I watch horse races, then I was bound to whilst watching a film about a horse race!

Although, [livejournal.com profile] kyizi completely ruined my crying buzz, because she was bouncing up and down in her seat at the end of the race, whilst I was wanting to cry with the emotion of it. It's a little hard to cry when the person sitting next to you is bouncing and clapping her hands like a 5-year-old (yes, that's how [livejournal.com profile] kyizi acts when watching a film, and don't deny it!). Still, I got my crying at the end.

It made me in the mood to watch Due South, and although Season 2 has been dispatched, it's not arrived yet! *wail* I want it! Watched Season 3 Stargate instead, and *wail* for Martouf. I love him!

Also spent about 2 and half hours sorting out the Astrosoc bank account today with the help of [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris. Still have to do the cashbox accounts. Eek! They're going to be the trouble.

I also haven't actually started Wood & Wild Chapter 14, but I have been thinking about it, so I know what's going to be in it, which is more than can be said of about 3 days ago!

I'd better go and get some studying done now, since I haven't done any today, instead sorting out accounts. Grr!
heliona: (Default)
Yes, I've made another one, simply because I'd finished my report and my flatmate and [livejournal.com profile] kyizi were watching a horror film in the living room and because I don't like horror films, I decided to do something else.

Plus, I had this idea. It's my first Sarkney desktop, and would be better if I hadn't discovered that the *only* brush that doesn't work with my version of Photoshop is the Polaroid Set. I was not pleased, since in my head the desktop had polaroids! So, instead I've had to improvise.

Let me know what you think.

Desktops

Apr. 14th, 2004 06:58 pm
heliona: (Default)
Hello everyone, again!

Some of you have checked out [livejournal.com profile] kyizi's new Stargate layout for her LJ and liked it might want to take a look at my desktops. (As far as I've figured out, you should just be able to "right-click, save target as" on them, but let me know if you've snerched.) She gave me her layout to play with and see what desktops I could come up with. She also gave me some screencaps, but since there wasn't much room on the USB drive, I only got the ones she took for her icons and various others from Nightstalkers. Because of this, the desktop is a little limited. There are two versions, because I couldn't decide on the background colour.

Jonas desktops )

I've also done a Sark desktop that I'm very proud of. I got the idea for the theme just as I was out the shower (it just randomly came to me!) and the layout was basically inspired partly by [livejournal.com profile] _projectgalem's Harry/Hermione desktop (at least, I think it was hers! If it wasn't, then it's [livejournal.com profile] stevie_jane's. Once you see my desktop, you'll know which one I'm talking about!) and by my current desktop taken from DA's website (I've changed it from Elijah Wood). Okay, I've just realised that I'm lying, my current desktop didn't come from DA's site (but the guest desktops have been updated and there are some very pretty ones there) it came from one of you posting it!

Sark - Still Waters Run Deep )

It's weird, [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and I were reminiscing about Photoshop, and I was remembering when I didn't know what to do with layers, and the only thing I used Photoshop was for doing cool effects on photos. I ignored layers totally. Then [livejournal.com profile] notasalmon came along and showed me what to do. Now I'm making desktops which have lots of layers. (I think my new Sark one is the most impressive - it's got about 25 layers, plus colour overlays and other such stuff!)

And the time I'm spending in Photoshop is getting more productive - it didn't actually take me that long to do my Sark layout. It would have taken me days to do it not long ago. Saying that, the Jonas desktop took over 2 hours! And I've only added 3 photos and some text! Argh! Although, I had to do some fancy stuff to get the symbol for Earth, since [livejournal.com profile] kyizi hadn't given it to me! Admittedly, Photoshop wasn't behaving itself when I tried putting frames around the smaller photos, but I didn't expect it to take over 2 hours, otherwise I wouldn't have started at midnight!

Anyway, I'm off to see what's happening outside my own little life! *g*
heliona: (Default)
Okay, I know a few of you have the Alias mood theme, and I was wondering where it came from, since I can't find it anywhere!

Alias

Apr. 12th, 2004 05:44 pm
heliona: (Default)
Okay, so obviously I haven't seen Alias, (although I might be seeing it very soon, since [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and I will be getting it possibly tomorrow. (Although, will have to watch it with [livejournal.com profile] kyizi, since my computer's sound is now crap.

But having just read [livejournal.com profile] corngirl_jo's LJ entry, I don't think I want to watch it, at all! Seriously, I'm losing faith in Alias! And this is obviously not a good thing! I'm keeping my faith concerning certain characters, and I have in my own mind reasons for it all, but since [livejournal.com profile] corngirl_jo's reasons are generally the same as mine, and she's having trouble justifying people's actions, then I think I'm trouble! Argh!

Anyway, in other news, my laptop's still misbehaving. I'm hoping that miraculously it'll recover, because I couldn't get it insured when I bought it, since I was a skint student. The only insurance that came with it was because it was bought on a credit card, which just so happens to belong to my mother, so I don't have the receipt. So heaven knows how expensive it'll be to repair! Argh! And, yes, it should still be under warranty, since I bought it less than a year ago, but can I find the receipt? Of course not! It most likely with everything else computer-related - like my Windows XP CD and my Microsoft Office 2000 CD, which I can't find. I've obviously put them somewhere safe! Grr!

On top of all that, I have studying to do, and a report to finish that was due in before yesterday, but since computer went kaput for a while, it's not finished! Argh!

And now I'm not even looking forward to Alias! (Although I am looking forward to Crossings, for obvious reasons!)

Okay, moan over. Back to regular scheduling now! *g*

Icons

heliona: (Default)
In other news, I've discovered how to make fonts transparent in Photoshop. Hurray! These three Alias icons are a result.

Feel free to take (I can't use them at the mo), if you really want (although everyone that I know makes better ones than these), just credit me and let me know.

Alias Icons )

Okay, I've re-recorded Ribbit, and it sounds unbelievably better now, so I've updated the link accordingly. Don't worry, the previous links should still work, since I simply replaced the file. Also, I was thinking, if people were interested, and hadn't run away screaming at the sound of my voice, of possibly reading aloud the whole Bad Wigs series, with [livejournal.com profile] auburnnothenna's permission, of course. :)

Also, I've updated my fic, Wood & Wild at my Yahoo!Group, and also on Schnoogle and Fanfiction.net, for those of you who are interested!

And, now I'm going home to blitz Stargate-SG1, because [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris has lent me the film and the first season of the series. [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and I were watching Season 6 a couple of days ago, and I had a sudden urge to go and watch the film (I've seen it before) and then I wanted to watch the series from the beginning, since I have only seen random episodes. So yay! Although I won't get any work done!

Also, I've discovered that I can record from tape to my computer, no problem. Which is fantastic because it means that my old copy of The Hobbit, read by Nicol Williamson, I can put on CD and then not have to worry about the tapes finally dying. Hurray!

Right, I'm going now, to play with the new Harry Potter trailer that [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris gave me, and photos I've been downloading, and then to watch Stargate! Huzzah! *g*

(That's if I can stay awake long enough - I didn't get my full 8 hours sleep last night. Although in a way, this is a good thing, as it means that I will possibly get back into normal people's routine, as opposed to a vampire's!)
heliona: (Default)
Yes, I got my microphone, and I've finally done the reading aloud. So, here, in all it's dubious glory (dubious because I read it, not because Auburn wrote it!), is Ribbit by Auburn read by me! I hope it's not too bad!

Also, here is [livejournal.com profile] notasalmon saying hello!

Here's hoping they work! Currently, Ribbit is up at [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris's site, because I didn't have the room, but I'm hoping to convert it so it'll fit. So, [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris, thank you for "letting" me use it (I just put it one, the advantages of knowing her password!) and I'll take it off as soon as I can!

ETA: to change the link to "Ribbit."
heliona: (Default)
Am bored, and don't feel well now, which sucks, cos I felt fine this morning. ALthough this morning didn't go so well, since my shower decided it didn't want to work and I ended up missing my lecture. Grr!

Am busy DLing clips from Alias eps 13 and 14, guess what I'm doing when I get home? Although, having discovered how to listen to stuff on these computers, I might watch them now. (Yes, I've only been here 3 and a half years, but never mind!)

I might even be able to watch that new Prisoner of Azkaban trailer that everyone's going on about, although I've got at least three on my computer now, so maybe I have it.

I'm currently waiting for the Marshall clip to download (I don't want to say anymore, because [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris still doesn't know anything about Season Three, but suffice to say it's a momentous event, and those of you who have seen it will know what I'm talking about! *g*

Right, it's finished, so I can finish this extremely boring update. I think I might go and get a cup of hot chocolate to tide me over until I get home for lunch.
heliona: (Default)
Bah, bloody hell! I just did loads of memes and had lots of lj cuts, and then pressed the wrong bloody button on the computer and it's all gone! And now I can't get it back! Grr!

Well, the long and short of it was that I either got Aragorn or Merry, Elijah Wood fathered my baby because he wanted to settle down and have kids, every time I did the PotC one I got Jack Sparrow, except the time I got Captain Barbossa (we don't talk about that one!), my movie one was quite good - my dying scene was played out to Frank Sinatra's My Way.

On other topics, the Burns' Supper seems to be coming together (fingers crossed), so [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris and I can stress less now. She's coming over tonight, and we're going to combine writing speeches for the Supper, doing work, and watching Season 2 Alias. Which means I finally get to see Firebomb. I've only been waiting about 6 months!

I also got a phone call today saying that my glasses are ready, so I'm going to pick them up tomorrow, and then I'll be able to see! Woohoo!

I had typed out some more, but my hands are hurting from the hideous lecture I had earlier.

If you want to go and have some fun, like I did, check out the memes that [livejournal.com profile] mental_midget did.
heliona: (Default)
First of all, ER was on last night, and was fantastic!

Secondly, I managed to get my DVD player on my computer able to take screencaps that weren't obscure colours (apparently something had been ticked that shouldn't have been) and have started the layout for [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris's LJ.

Thirdly, I'm going to pick Alias Season 2 today! Woohoo! That's made my weekend, it has!

Oh, and Countries that I've visited )
heliona: (Default)
Check this out guys! If I'm here (which I might be!), I'll be going! :D

Rendevous
heliona: (Default)
First of all, Happy Birthday to Orlando Bloom (and also a good friend of mine, Roisin).

Secondly, I've just read bits that were written about the last episode of Alias, and OMG, I nearly fell off my chair! I'm so behind the times!

I watched some videos from episode 10. I totally agree with Sark's reaction to the person he was talking/torturing. (I'm being vague because I don't have enough to say to warrant a cut, but don't want to spoil things for [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris and [livejournal.com profile] kyizi.)

Thirdly, I don't actually have much to say, apart from I did the "Which Hobbit are You?" quiz twice and got Orlando once and Billy once, which seems about right, since from what I've gathered, I'm kind of a mixture of both.

Oh, and I'm enquiring into doing a PhD in New Zealand! Woohoo! I've been ogling photos of the place and would beg, borrow, steal, have sex to get over there!
