Before I start, I should say that I HAVEN'T READ DEATHLY HALLOWS YET AND IF ANYONE MENTIONS ANYTHING IN THE COMMENTS, I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN AND CRUCIO YOU!!!

Okay, so this morning on the breakfast news, they showed clips of people who had queued for up to 36 hours to get their hands on 'Deathly Hallows'. This was in between clips of the flooded areas in England.

It suddenly struck me (mainly now because I hadn't really been thinking about it before) that this world is really very strange, and a lot of people have some very strange priorities!

Now, I fully admit that I will read 'Deathly Hallows' sooner rather than later, although that's mainly so that there's less chance of me getting spoilt than anything else. If I could leave it for a while without being spoilt, I would.

But there were people, kids and adults, fighting over a book. A book, for goodness' sake! Seriously, people! It's only a book! It's not the end of the world!

I know quite a few of you on my flist have been similarly apathetic towards Harry Potter, and I think it's quite refreshing. (Of course, once I get the book in my hands, I won't put it down until I've finished reading it, but that happens with a lot of books.)

I did have a longer, more intelligent post in my head a few hours ago, but it's late now and my brain's a little fried.

In other, sort of related news, the one good thing about the OotP film coming out and the book as well is that it's got my creative juices going again. I've been making new notes for 'Wood & Wild'.

Also, I've just rewatched 'The Craft' on Channel 4, and it didn't end the way I remember at all!

So, I finally managed to get on my computer and shrink my animated icons! Yay!

Here they are, courtesy of this brilliant Webcomic:

I also managed to go through the chapters of Wood & Wild that have been returned to me by my betas. So hopefully Chapter 3 will be up on Sugar Quill and Chapter 7 will be up on Phoenix Song soon. Also, Chapter 3 on Phoenix Song will be changed, as I made a lot of changes to it.

As a result, I didn't have any time to make any more icons for [livejournal.com profile] eretria, although I did think about it! However, I will have time to do so tonight!

I also didn't get any more writing done of The Art of Being (the sequel to Wood & Wild) either (although, again, I did think about it!).

So, I've only just found out that the Harry Potter DVDs are going to be released in High Definition and that the old, normal, versions are being pulled from the shelves. Now I only own Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets, so I'm not totally annoyed about it, since I can get the whole lot on High Definition without buying them all again.

Although I hope that all the special features are still on them!

This is pretty good (as seen on [livejournal.com profile] nimoloth's LJ.

Okay, I'm cutting this for spoilers.

Draco Veritas Chapter 16 )

If there is anyone reading this who likes HP fanfiction and hasn't read Cassandra Claire's DSV series, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN???!!! YOU MUST GO AND READ IT NOW!!! Seriously, though, it's an amazing piece of writing that keeps you on the edge of your seat permanently, and you'll have the added advantage of it being finished by the time you've got to the last part of the trilogy!

Look up Cassandra Claire on Schnoogle all three of the Trilogy are there.

Okay, friends, I need your help.

[livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris sent me a photograph of Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy from Goblet of Fire that she got off [livejournal.com profile] madlori's LJ, and I'm now searching for more. I'm also searching for decent, high quality photos of Dan, Emma & Ron as well. Since I know some of you will already have lots of these photos, I thought you would be able to help. So, if you could either send me the photos, or point me in the right direction, I would be forever grateful. :)

Thank you.

Snerched this from [livejournal.com profile] kyizi Result was no surprise! *g*

You scored as Sirius Black. You are a gifted wizard and very loyal to your allegiance. Whilst you have a big heart and care very much about those around you, you can be a little arrogant and reckless at times.

Oh my God! All those Cassie Clare Draco Trilogy fans (and D/G fans) try and read her new DV15 cookie! I generally don't read cookies, but this one I couldn't resist. Eek! That's all I have to say.

Now I'm going searching for the perfect 20 year-old man with black hair and dark brown eyes and a serious expression for my Alex in Wood & Wild. May take a while! If there are any suggestions, please put them forward!

Well, I'm currently at [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris's, enjoying the freedom of no more exams.

Went out on Friday night, but had to leave reasonably early to catch the train home to [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris's and also because she was extremely tired. Then, the next day, we went on a 4 mile bike ride, me using my bike for the first time in about six years. It was surprisingly easy - obviously living on the top floor for the last two years has done my legs some good after all!

Then, later that night, we went out in Glasgow again, this time to an Astronomy Department that we had arranged. 16 out of 17 people turned up, and the 17th was going to, but had to stay in bed due to some overindulgence the night before! It was really good, but again, we had to leave the pub quite early afterwards. Our next big social event is the graduation ball in a couple of weeks time. It feels really weird to not be seeing everyone every day now.

Had a weird dream about Russell last night, and an even weirder one about Ross a few nights ago. Am not going to even try to explain them, since they're too weird for words, and I can't really remember them - other than Ross proposed to me, and I finally kissed Russell, and then we got embroiled in some conspiracy to kill this old lady. Oh, and in the Russell dream, my mother was Jen Garner and single! Don't ask me, it's my subconcious at work!

So, moving on, [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris and I got up a little later this morning, and, after a quick breakfast, took the two dogs out for another run, this time six miles. Other than remarkably sore backsides, we were okay! Somehow we survived, although Barney, the collie, is stiff as old boots now, the poor guy!

I was going to mention something else exciting, but I can't remember!

Oh, have just found out that a wonderful Draco/Ginny fic, Dark Directed has been updated and is now finished. Hurrah!

Ooh, I know what's been an exciting development. [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris has a record player deck which she has been using to record Harry Potter on tape onto her computer and then onto CD. Now, I've got several records that I haven't heard in years, since my parents got rid of their record player. So, we've just discovered that we can easily record from LP to CD. It's fabulous! Some of these LPs you can't buy anymore! I'm so chuffed! I've been waiting to do this for ages!

I don't think I have anything else to say, except hooray to [livejournal.com profile] notasalmon, [livejournal.com profile] nimoloth, and [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris for finishing exams in one piece, congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] frippysnarf for going to Australia (lucky thing!), and don't worry, [livejournal.com profile] lollygagjill, I'm sure things will get better.

Anyway, I'd better go back to recording things, otherwise we'll never get anywhere.

Also, I think we may be about to watch lots of Farscape Season 4! Woohoo! I've only seen the first three episodes, but [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris has got them on DVD, so we can watch them all! Hurrah!

ETA: Go and check out Tom Felton's site. For starters, he's updating reasonably regularly, and also there's a lovely photo of him in New York that makes me want to drool. Also, finally, a celeb who actually likes brown hair and brown eyes on his girls! I may have a chance! *g*

Okay, so I've done it three times, one for "Heliona", one for "Helen" and one for "Fiona" who is Fiona Wild. Here are the results:

Well, since I was bored yesterday, and have finished my exams and had nothing better to do, I've made a new desktop. I had an idea for it ages ago, when I saw the Harry, Hermione, and Ron desktop, and then getting the new images of Draco spurred my imagination further. So this is the result.

Okay, this is the first part of a companion fic for [livejournal.com profile] kyizi's Snape/Hermione fic, Every Little Thing She Does is Magic. It follows Remus Lupin's and Harry Potter's points of view. This is the first chapter and is up to and including ELTSHIM Chapter 3, so you'll have to have read that far before you can read this.

If I Ever Lose My Faith In You )

Okay, so that's it. I've been frantically putting it up everywhere, and now [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and I are off to meet [livejournal.com profile] eretria and [livejournal.com profile] murron at the airport! Woohoo!
heliona: (Default)
Okay, so I'm reading this fic, or rather a trilogy, which has been out for ages. It's a Harry Potter trilogy, written by Barb, and can be found here. I read the first part ages ago, but I was terrified about how it ended and didn't even get the second and third parts for ages.

Anyway, I got them last week, and started reading the second part, Harry Potter and the Time of Good Intentions on Saturday night at about 11 o'clock. I couldn't stop reading it. I mean, seriously, I could physically stop. It was like an addiction. And not a good one when there are 21 chapters that are really long! I didn't get to sleep until 11 in the morning. Yes, that 12 hours, 12 HOURS reading. Or possibly more, since I may have started earlier.

I finally got to sleep and got up at about 3:30 in the afternoon. I actually wasn't that tired. I mean, I could have slept more, obviously, but I managed to cope once I was up. I decided to get up, otherwise my clock would be completely out of whack.

Anyway, last night, whilst recording Sleepy Hollow with the lovely Johnny Depp, I started on the third part of the trilogy. Argh! I'm starting to get annoyed with all the characters. And apparently none of the male characters can resist wanting to sleep with women/girls! Seriously, no-one I knew was that bad at 16/17. Maybe it's something to do with being magical. I realise that this now sounds as though I'm not enjoying the fic at all. Quite the contrary, I am, immensely, but I can see everything going disasterously wrong. It's a bit like watching a train wreck in slow-mo. Especially since I'm only on chapter 8 and there are 31 of them!

*sigh* Randomly, did you know that [livejournal.com profile] kyizi is actually saying "sigh" now when she's sighing?! I think that sabbatical from the Internet is going to do her a world of good!

[livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris has just given me Season 4 Stargate SG-1, a really good book called The Changeover (who's characters feature in an extremely good Harry Potter fic called Paradigm of Uncertainty [it and its sequels can be found here] which is actually mine, and also the new David and Leigh Eddings book that I mentioned before. How am I expected to get any work done at all?

Nothing else is happening, other than the fact that I'm currently hating Glaswegian weather, since it started off lovely and sunny, and then decided to rain, then went sunny again, then got windy and cold, and then *hailed*. I wouldn't be surprised to see snow soon! I'm esconced in the library at the moment, since we got chucked out of the Kelvin Building (where all physicists and especially astronomers like to live) because the security doors weren't locking, so I can't really tell what the weather's like at the mo, although I think the sun's out.

[livejournal.com profile] kyizi, my flatmate, and I are going to see Secret Window on Wednesday (back in time to watch ER, naturally). Having just found out that it's a Stephen King horror, I think I'm going to entertain them. I have a habit of jumping a lot, although at least I don't scream ear-piercingly like [livejournal.com profile] kyizi!

Okay, I'd better go now whilst the weather is reasonably good. I don't fancy walking home in wind and hail!

I've got a new Harry Potter mood theme from [livejournal.com profile] verucawerewolf because it's so cool. *g*

Ranting

Apr. 9th, 2004 01:50 pm
heliona: (Default)
Okay, am currently a little annoyed, since the computer has decided to mess with my Radiohead CD and keeps skipping. Grr! Especially since I'm a total Radiohead mood, and I want to listen to the bloody songs! Argh!

You know, I managed to watch the new Prisoner of Azkaban trailer, and, although it looks great, the more of the trailers I see, the less I look forward to the film. It's my favourite book, and I can see myself getting seriously annoyed about the film. Also, although I like David Thewlis, he is most definitely *not* Remus Lupin, by any stretch of the imagination. Obviously, I'm still going to see it, but I don't know. We'll see. And, I love Daniel Radcliffe, but he wasn't as convincing as Harry in that trailer as the ones before. Tom Felton and Rupert Grint were good, but even Emma Watson was a little wrong, I thought. I don't know, maybe it's because they're too old, or something. *shrugs* Am going to get off my HP rant now. (Although am seriously considering capping the trailer!)

Speaking of capping, I capped all of David Anders' scenes in The Source/Surge/Secret Craft and will be putting them up somewhere, if anyone's interested. There are just over 300 of them, though. (Okay, I went a little crazy - I just kept pressing that button every time he appeared on the screen!) I think I'll cull them down a little first! *g*

In the hope of avoiding work, I did the following: D&D Character )
heliona: (Default)
Okay, I've re-recorded Ribbit, and it sounds unbelievably better now, so I've updated the link accordingly. Don't worry, the previous links should still work, since I simply replaced the file. Also, I was thinking, if people were interested, and hadn't run away screaming at the sound of my voice, of possibly reading aloud the whole Bad Wigs series, with [livejournal.com profile] auburnnothenna's permission, of course. :)

Also, I've updated my fic, Wood & Wild at my Yahoo!Group, and also on Schnoogle and Fanfiction.net, for those of you who are interested!

And, now I'm going home to blitz Stargate-SG1, because [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris has lent me the film and the first season of the series. [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and I were watching Season 6 a couple of days ago, and I had a sudden urge to go and watch the film (I've seen it before) and then I wanted to watch the series from the beginning, since I have only seen random episodes. So yay! Although I won't get any work done!

Also, I've discovered that I can record from tape to my computer, no problem. Which is fantastic because it means that my old copy of The Hobbit, read by Nicol Williamson, I can put on CD and then not have to worry about the tapes finally dying. Hurray!

Right, I'm going now, to play with the new Harry Potter trailer that [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris gave me, and photos I've been downloading, and then to watch Stargate! Huzzah! *g*

(That's if I can stay awake long enough - I didn't get my full 8 hours sleep last night. Although in a way, this is a good thing, as it means that I will possibly get back into normal people's routine, as opposed to a vampire's!)
heliona: (Default)
Well, I've changed my Friends layout. I've been wanting to put this up for a while, but didn't want to get rid of Orli because I like it so much.

The only thing is, the colours don't exactly match up, so I'm going to have to go back on my computer and try to find the code again. I'm sure I got them the same, but maybe I didn't. If I did and it's because it's not a web colour or something, then I'm going to have to fiddle. Grr!

Still, it's pretty!

And, huzzah! Draco Veritas 14; Part 1is up. Hurrah!!! Guess what I'm going to be doing tonight!

And, what's more, my friend's lent me more Tamora Pierce books, so I'll be reading all night long! Hurray!

On another note, I'm rereading Order of the Pheonix. I don't know why, I guess I'm a glutton for punishment or something. But it's really annoying me, because I've got to the bit where Kreacher's gone missing and Hermione's a little worried, and so is Harry, because he says that house elves can leave their home if they really want (eg: Dobby), and even Sirius is a little worried, but they don't think much of it! Argh! It's *really* annoying! I'm not sure if I want to read more, because I'll just get so mad. The only good thing about OotP is that Ginny's much better in it - she's no longer a wimp drooling over Harry. And Gred and Forge are brill as well.

Grrr!
heliona: (Default)
Well, very soon I'm going to be boarding a coach with [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris and we'll be trundling up even further north for our Astronomy field trip.

Whilst I'm waiting for [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris to come out of her lecture so that we can go for lunch, I spent some time doing quizzes. Here are the results, which are unsurprising. What's more, I didn't even fix them this time!

Which HP kid are you? )
heliona: (Default)
This conversation with Snape ) was quite amusing, so I thought I'd put it in. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] stevie_jane for pointing it out!
heliona: (Default)
Okay, I'm in hugely lustful mood at the moment, and Tom Felton/Draco is the lucky (?) object of my affections.

Also, I watched 2 Fast 2 Furious last night, and am drooling over Paul Walker.

Basically anyone who's blond and reasonably good-looking doesn't stand a chance around me!

This is a very pointless post, since I don't actually have much to say. I've downloaded the Prisoner of Azkaban trailer (thank you [livejournal.com profile] projectgalem and am going to go home and watch it with sound! Woohoo! Although, am upset about the lack of Draco-ness. :( Give me more Draco!! *ahem* Moving on...

I don't really have much else to say, except to ask - those of you that have HP & Chamber of Secrets on DVD, can you get the DVD-ROM stuff working? Because mine keeps going on about a run-time error or something and nothing happens, which I'm very upset about!
