Okay, so I've been going through my old posts, like I said previously, and I found this:

Lord of the Rings PhD

It was appreciated back when we were undergraduates, but now that everyone's a postgraduate, I think it'll be even more appreciated, which is why I'm posting it again!

Funny

Okay, this is hilarious. I found it via [livejournal.com profile] slowfox: Lord of the Rings PhD style

Spent almost all of the early morning talking with [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and my flatmate. Didn't get to bed until about 5! We watched Stephen King's IT which Lynne and I had seen, but [livejournal.com profile] kyizi hadn't. It was a bit disappointing really, since we'd seen it when we were 10 and 12, and rewatching it, we realised it was a bit dated. But, since I'm a wuss when it comes to horror films, I still jumped, and Lynne and I hid our heads when we knew there were scary clown bits coming up.

After that, [livejournal.com profile] kyizi told us some really amusing dreams. That kept us entertained for hours.

Nothing else has happened, except that I'm getting PS7 today, woohoo! Also, I should be getting Alias soon, and despite [livejournal.com profile] kyizi delaying because she's saying that Doyle (my computer) isn't working so I can't watch them, I fully intend to burn them to VCD so I can watch them on a DVD player, since I don't know when I'll be able to get Alias Season 3 on DVD. Also, fingers crossed, a friend of mine might be able to fix Doyle without much trouble.

For those of you that don't have the joy of getting the Metro, there was a 60 second interview with Viggo in it today. It's behind the cut.

Viggo Interview )

In other news, I'm looking at getting a blog for my website, although that won't really interest most of you, since it'll be for when I'm off sailing, and will be updated by the super-woman that is known to plebs as [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris, and will contain random rubbish about where we are and what interesting things have happened to us! *g*

Hopefully a blog will be better than what I've currently got. It looks a bit faffy.

Okay, I've re-recorded Ribbit, and it sounds unbelievably better now, so I've updated the link accordingly. Don't worry, the previous links should still work, since I simply replaced the file. Also, I was thinking, if people were interested, and hadn't run away screaming at the sound of my voice, of possibly reading aloud the whole Bad Wigs series, with [livejournal.com profile] auburnnothenna's permission, of course. :)

Also, I've updated my fic, Wood & Wild at my Yahoo!Group, and also on Schnoogle and Fanfiction.net, for those of you who are interested!

And, now I'm going home to blitz Stargate-SG1, because [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris has lent me the film and the first season of the series. [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and I were watching Season 6 a couple of days ago, and I had a sudden urge to go and watch the film (I've seen it before) and then I wanted to watch the series from the beginning, since I have only seen random episodes. So yay! Although I won't get any work done!

Also, I've discovered that I can record from tape to my computer, no problem. Which is fantastic because it means that my old copy of The Hobbit, read by Nicol Williamson, I can put on CD and then not have to worry about the tapes finally dying. Hurray!

Right, I'm going now, to play with the new Harry Potter trailer that [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris gave me, and photos I've been downloading, and then to watch Stargate! Huzzah! *g*

(That's if I can stay awake long enough - I didn't get my full 8 hours sleep last night. Although in a way, this is a good thing, as it means that I will possibly get back into normal people's routine, as opposed to a vampire's!)

New layout

Yes, I know that I had new Friends and Calendar pages not long ago, but I was sorting out my computer last night, and these wolf photos were crying out to be made into layouts. So, here I am celebrating all that is wolfy! *g*

Am slightly bored, so am doing a Meme that [livejournal.com profile] mental_midget did.

Oh, am also looking into getting a microphone for my laptop so I can join in the with reading of fic (and I can think of all sorts of other groovy stuff to do with a microphone). Now, I found this one here. Can anyone who knows anything about this stuff let me know if it's any good? *g* Thank you!

Well, I managed to stay awake in RotK, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even managed not to cry, just.

I discovered that I completely missed a bit last time because I was crying so much! And since I knew what happened this time (obviously the first time I knew what happened, but I mean how the film went), I could observe more. Billy Boyd's performance was outstanding. He outshone everyone else, in my opinion, and I want to nominate him for Best Supporting Actor, dammit!

Also, I couldn't help but see Orlijah, at least on Elijah's part! Argh! This is not normally me, but I can forgive it because it was at the bit when Frodo's been rescued and everyone comes in to see him, and Legolas looks really Elvish and unbelievably yummy!

Also, giggled over another Pirates reference. Firstly, there were the skeletons, and then there were the ships sailing into Minas Tirith and the orcs saying "They're late, bloody pirates" or some such. And then Orli jumps off the boat! He he! See what happens when you watch RotK when you're sleep deprived!

After that we went to see Scary Movie 3, which was funny. Not really very good, but it made me laugh, which is suppose is the whole point. I still maintain that the second one is the best, but I am a little biased. After all, Chris Masterson is in that one! *g*

Oh, on a completely unrelated note, [livejournal.com profile] kyizi told me to tell you all that Jack was named after Captain Jack Sparrow and it's just coincidence that it could be Jack Bristow or Jack O'Neill!

Well, this is a hideously long post, so I'm cutting it for those of you who don't want to know what I get up to at 3 in the morning!

Early morning musings )

Well, I saw it this morning. Oh My God!

I noticed you're all saying that you cried three times (from what I skimmed, don't actually have that much time at the mo). I actually didn't stop crying from after the first Battle (you know the one, with the hill scene). I was pretty much a hosepipe from then on! And I'm not one to cry usually! It was terrible. I looked awful after it! That film has only one word to describe it - awesome.

I don't really have time to say any more, since I'm flying out to Sardinia (woohoo!) tomorrow morning at some ungodly hour! I'm visiting my parents for 3 weeks, and won't be around at all (no Internet access, and I'm with people who won't have seen RotK, pity me!). And it's not even though they don't want to see it, they really, really do, so I'm going to have to be holding myself back from telling them anything!

Anyway, got to go and toast some marshmallows on an open fire (I kid you not, [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris's house is very cool. Have a great Christmas and New Year, and try not to get too depressed over the fact that the epic that is Lord of the Rings is over (at least until RotK comes out on DVD, woohoo for Extended Versions, I want to reserve mine now!).

Speak to you all in 3 weeks!

Happy Sark/Aragorn/Legolas/Pippin/Merry/Faramir/Eomer/Draco dreams! (Obviously not all at once, that would be quite scary!)
heliona: (Default)
Yes, the loveable hobbit is 27 today!

In other news, I may have found myself a man. I'm keeping things quiet until I'm sure, because I don't want to jinx anything. I'm very good at jinxing things!

Also, I've got my ticket for Return of the King! Woohoo! 11:20 on Wednesday morning. It's not the first showing at the cinema, but I sacrificed that for seeing it in the biggest screen. I think it's going to be worth it.

The ceilidh, despite my misgivings, was a fantastic success, in case anyone was wondering. It was sold out, so we made quite a tidy profit, which I was surprised about, since I thought we would break even and that's about it! Next year has a lot to live up to! *g*

There's another LotR-related article in the Metro today, an interview with Andy Serkis, which I will post, but it's very long and I don't actually have the time to type it all up at the moment. So I'm afraid you're going to have to wait!
heliona: (Default)
Yes, I've got the PotC DVD and have now seen almost all the extras on it. [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and I watched the bloopers and actually couldn't breathe at the end of it because we were laughing so much. I started watching the movie with the Johnny Depp commentary, but as it was almost 1 in the morning and I had to be up at 8, I decided to leave it. What I heard was really funny though.

The diary of a ship was really interesting, since I'd done almost the exact same trip, except the other way (Caribbean to Canada) in a slightly smaller boat and fortunately without the horrendous weather. It was almost deja-vu-like watching that Diary!

Oh, and in the Glasgow Metro today, a little note on how my Billy's been looking after darling Elijah. )

In other news, my parents are coming to visit this Friday, which is when my ceilidh is, so Friday's going to be very hectic!
heliona: (Default)
I've now watched all of the discs of TT:Extended, and whilst I thought they were good, I didn't like them as much as the FOTR ones. Although how they made Gollum and the work Andy Serkis put into him really amazed me. I mean, it amazed me every time I saw the film on the big screen, but watching the documentaries really drove things home.

I'm not going to harp on about it, since I know some of you haven't actually seen them yet, but they're well worth watching, of course. *g*

And PotC comes out next week! Woohoo! Another lovely, strokable DVD to look forward to. (Although my bank balance isn't appreciating it as much as I am!)
heliona: (Default)
Well, I finally got the extended Two Towers!

I discovered on Monday that there had been an attempted delivery last Tuesday, but since I, like most people, have a life, I wasn't there then. So, I called up the delivery company and managed to get it yesterday morning by skipping uni (I wasn't feeling very well, anyway.). Of course, getting the DVD at 11am certainly cheered me up!

Although, did anyone else have a very difficult time getting Gollum out of the stupid box? Because I certainly did! It took me about 15 minutes before I realised that absolutely everything was glued down and then another 10 minutes to actually gently pull him out without destroying the box!

I'm not going to harp on about all the extras, since everyone did that last week (and [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris haven't seen it yet), but they're good! *g* Very good.

Other than that, my life is pretty boring. I have to get a new toothbrush, because the last one I bought was too stiff and my mouth isn't appreciating it. :(

Also, I'm going to the cinema tonight with [livejournal.com profile] kyizi to see Love Actually (possibly, we haven't decided yet), so I'll let you all know how that went, too. *g*

Grrrr!

So, I'm still waiting for TTT and getting very annoyed! It seems like everyone in this world has seen it apart from me (and [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris because they'll be watching it at mine!). A seriously hacked off Heliona is not what you want!

On another note, I have more plans for my website - layout and content-wise. So hopefully soon it'll be more than just some pretty pictures!

[livejournal.com profile] kyizi, [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris and I are going climbing later today, so I'd better skeddadle and do something more constructive than doss about on the computer!
heliona: (Default)
Well, it's another gloomy day in Glasgow.

Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm gloomy. In fact, I'm not, despite not having got TTT Extended yet. I'm going to tackle the postie as soon as he brings it, demanding to know why it's taken so long! Fingers crossed it'll be tomorrow.

I've had one lecture so far, and I managed not to fall asleep in it! Although my bracelet (which a friend gave to me last year for my 21st birthday) broke in the lecture, and I haven't a clue how - it's not as though I was doing strenuous activity!

I'm not really doing much at the moment, but hopefully tonight I'll start html'ing fic so that it can go up on my website.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris, I like the orange, I think it looks fine! :p

Okay, I'm off to trawl amazon.co.uk to see if I can order Alias Season 2 yet.

New layout

Well, in honour of the Two Towers coming out, I've changed the layout, except I'm a little annoyed, because I uploaded the wrong one! I've got a much better one.

I'll upload it later today, after my very useless supervision! :)
