So, I'm back home, so to speak.

The trip back was never-ending. Up at 6 in the morning, an hour and a half in the car to the airport, standing in a queue for an hour to check-in, straight onto the plane because we were late (although we wouldn't have been if there hadn't been three flights checking in to four check-in desks!) and then 7 hours on the plane. Then another 1 1/2 hours standing in a queue to get past Customs (and they let us in without a return ticket, which we were a little worried about - we were fearing getting pulled aside and questioned!) and because of that, we missed our bus by 10 minutes. So then we had to wait in the airport for two more hours, and then our bus was late. Two hours on the bus later, we hop on the ferry for the 45 minute trip to the island, where a friend was waiting to pick us up, thank God! It was freezing cold (several degrees below freezing) and Boston had lots of snow, but none on Martha's Vineyard, thank goodness. We arrived on the island at 1900 (7 o'clock in the evening) after having been up since what would have been 1 in the morning to our American friends. Argh!

The next day was spent trying to get the boat warmed up, as we hadn't left any heating on over the month, which turned out to be a bad idea, since some of our water pipes that we had forgotten to drain burst, and now we have no running water and no hot water heater. Other than that, things are great! Oh, it rained today and blew hard, so it held the high water up, raising the floating dock above the level of the land it was attached to, so the ramp was waving around in the air, and we couldn't get ashore. Fun was had by all! *g*

Now I'm ashore picking reading material for the next few days, in case we're stuck again (although the forecast is good).
