The bad news is that I now longer have a paid account, but I suppose it's good in a way, since I won't be using my LJ regularly from now on.

The good news (Well, for me, at least, since I won't be looking after them for much longer!) is that I've adopted another Neopet to go along with Rywyn, my lupe (that's a wolf to normal people). It's a uni (a unicorn for us people with sanity) called Kimmy (I didn't name it, since it was adopted, it came with that name, so no yelling at me for choosing a sad name!). I wanted to adopt a griffin (I can't remember what they called them, but it was something stupid, as per usual!), for the main reason that when approached by friends, he insulted them from afar, which seemed just my style!

Sadly, I had to settle for Kimmy, who's very friendly, and quite cute. I have a feeling she's going to wend her way into my heart. Still, I've got my wolf to keep me on my toes.

Onto real life, it turns out that my exams haven't finished after all. I have an Astronomy oral on Monday afternoon, which I'm not looking forward to. The bloody external examiner has chosen me to be one of the ones he wants imparting their knowledge to him. I mean, surely he should already know all of this stuff, and doesn't need to pick students to tell him random facts.

I may also have a Physics oral the following Monday (that's Charms to all the wizards reading), which won't be fun at all! If it was a practical exam, that'd be all right, but answering questions about it - horrible.

Went out with the dogs again today, but this time, because it was so late, we didn't go very far. I couldn't stand the bloody midges. I swear that the main reason Scotland has only been invaded by the English is because all the other potential invaders took one step, were mobbed by the little brutes, and decided that they were better off going somewhere else. I would swear that they are related to Doxies.

I'm currently trying to remember scenes from the Harry Potter films (what I want to know is why they weren't the Draco Malfoy films, they would have been so much more interesting) to make into the front covers of the CDs of Stephen Fry reading the books aloud. Now, obviously, I would go for an image of Draco Malfoy every time, but since it's for [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris and she has a liking for Harry, then it's going to be a more traditional look.

So far, I've got an image of Harry about to stroke Buckbeak for Prisoner of Azkaban, and am thinking about images for Philosopher's Stone (I'm English, so it's being called by it's proper name!), Chamber of Secrets, Goblet of Fire, and Order of the Phoenix. So far, I've come up with the Hogwarts Express for Philosopher's Stone, the flying car that the Weasel and Potter flew into the Whomping Willow for Chamber of Secrets, Potter on a broom for Goblet of Fire since there aren't any images from the film yet, and I don't have anything remotely resembling the tasks other than Potter on a broom, and Fawkes and Dumbledore for Order of the Phoenix. If anyone can come up with something better, then let me know. I'm slightly stuck - if it was Draco, I would be having no problems at all.

That's all I have to say right now, so I'm going to go and do something constructive, like found out where my house-elf has got to - this room is freezing.

New desktop

Well, since I was bored yesterday, and have finished my exams and had nothing better to do, I've made a new desktop. I had an idea for it ages ago, when I saw the Harry, Hermione, and Ron desktop, and then getting the new images of Draco spurred my imagination further. So this is the result.

Boring subject title because I couldn't think of anything else.

Now, in honour of the old Season 3 Sark that we know and love, I did this manip this morning (it was also experimenting with putting images into fonts).

Check it out. Our Man Sark

In other news, well, I have no other news.

I've discovered that the University thinks that I'm still doing the MSci course, when I dropped down to the BSc course at the beginning of this year. So I've got to go and sort that out pronto, since exams start pretty soon (am trying not think about that!).

Other than that, nope, no news at all. Although will be getting some more of Alias Season 3 soon. However, Doyle is still not fixed, so that will mean I'll have to convert them to some format so that I can watch them on my DVD player. Grr! Will have to go and get more CDs to burn onto.

Right, I'm off to do constructive stuff. See ya all later!

Yes, I've made another one, simply because I'd finished my report and my flatmate and [livejournal.com profile] kyizi were watching a horror film in the living room and because I don't like horror films, I decided to do something else.

Plus, I had this idea. It's my first Sarkney desktop, and would be better if I hadn't discovered that the *only* brush that doesn't work with my version of Photoshop is the Polaroid Set. I was not pleased, since in my head the desktop had polaroids! So, instead I've had to improvise.

Let me know what you think.

Desktops

Hello everyone, again!

Some of you have checked out [livejournal.com profile] kyizi's new Stargate layout for her LJ and liked it might want to take a look at my desktops. (As far as I've figured out, you should just be able to "right-click, save target as" on them, but let me know if you've snerched.) She gave me her layout to play with and see what desktops I could come up with. She also gave me some screencaps, but since there wasn't much room on the USB drive, I only got the ones she took for her icons and various others from Nightstalkers. Because of this, the desktop is a little limited. There are two versions, because I couldn't decide on the background colour.

I've also done a Sark desktop that I'm very proud of. I got the idea for the theme just as I was out the shower (it just randomly came to me!) and the layout was basically inspired partly by [livejournal.com profile] _projectgalem's Harry/Hermione desktop (at least, I think it was hers! If it wasn't, then it's [livejournal.com profile] stevie_jane's. Once you see my desktop, you'll know which one I'm talking about!) and by my current desktop taken from DA's website (I've changed it from Elijah Wood). Okay, I've just realised that I'm lying, my current desktop didn't come from DA's site (but the guest desktops have been updated and there are some very pretty ones there) it came from one of you posting it!

Sark - Still Waters Run Deep )

It's weird, [livejournal.com profile] kyizi and I were reminiscing about Photoshop, and I was remembering when I didn't know what to do with layers, and the only thing I used Photoshop was for doing cool effects on photos. I ignored layers totally. Then [livejournal.com profile] notasalmon came along and showed me what to do. Now I'm making desktops which have lots of layers. (I think my new Sark one is the most impressive - it's got about 25 layers, plus colour overlays and other such stuff!)

And the time I'm spending in Photoshop is getting more productive - it didn't actually take me that long to do my Sark layout. It would have taken me days to do it not long ago. Saying that, the Jonas desktop took over 2 hours! And I've only added 3 photos and some text! Argh! Although, I had to do some fancy stuff to get the symbol for Earth, since [livejournal.com profile] kyizi hadn't given it to me! Admittedly, Photoshop wasn't behaving itself when I tried putting frames around the smaller photos, but I didn't expect it to take over 2 hours, otherwise I wouldn't have started at midnight!

Anyway, I'm off to see what's happening outside my own little life! *g*

Hurrah!

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris I now have a Paid Live Journal, and thus more space for my icons! (Yes, I'm an icon slut!)

Have also brought in my desktop image for your viewing pleasure.

I actually have nothing else to say at the moment, except that my DVD Region Free thing seems to be working, since I managed to play Alias Season 2 (which is Region 1) on my computer. That would be wonderful, if only I could hear it!

Although, bizarrely, the sound quality was perfect for the episodes, it was just unbelievably quiet and no matter what I did to the volume controls, it didn't change. Well, I'll worry about that once my computer's working properly again.
