So, the debacle that is this Dell laptop (for anyone who's not got one and is thinking of buying one: DON'T!!!! The casing is rubbish and very flimsy and both the top and bottom are cracked from a not serious bump. Also, one of the keys came off, and it was only by applying my ingenuity that I managed to fix it! *g* A very small amount of searching has found hundreds of people with similar problems with Dell laptops; all agree they're bot built particularly well.) Anyway, it's going back into the shop to hopefully be fixed properly, so I don't know when I'll next be online. I can go on at the library, so I'll probably be around a little bit, but not as much as usual.

*sigh* If only I could get Doyle online!!

Mine is a Dell and it's generally been great. The only problem I've had is tat it doesn't reconnect to wireless at all if it's been in hibernate.

Well, whatever you do, don't drop it! This one got a bump and the whole thing cracked!

My laptop (an Acer) has got a big dent in the side of the screen casing, and been bashed a couple of times despite my being very careful, and the casing's still intact.

There's a report somewhere from a computer engineer who owns a Dell and says that it's been cheaply made from light plastic. I guess the components are great, it's just what they're put in!

Awww, that sucks. =/ I've never had any problems with my Dell and it's taken a lickin'. ^-^

I hope they fix it and quick!

Well, this one's just a little useless, casing-wise! My own laptop, an Acer, is brilliant. It's got a large dent in the screen casing, and several bumps elsewhere, and it still works fine. The whole casing of this laptop, both top and bottom, has got a crack in it. And the warranty won't cover it, and it's going to cost £260 over and above the £200 for a new screen that we've already paid! We could have bought a brand new laptop with better specs for that price!

Here's hoping it gets fixed quickly: Laptop Direct have definitely gone down in my estimation, so who knows how long it'll take!

Wow, I'm lucky that my laptop didn't break with the amout of times I've dropped it then. Is it sad I've done it more than once? *lol*

They better fix it quickly. I would hate being without a computer. *g* I'm not addicted. Nope, not me.

I still have it at the moment, thank goodness! *g*

If I could get my own computer on the internet, I'd be made up! But there's something wrong with the wireless in this house, and it refuses to recognise my own computer.

My own computer's been dowsed in water and taken apart, and it still works! *g*

I hate wireless networks. Okay, I love them but getting them to work... makes me pull my hair out! I had the hardest time getting the one in the house here to work and stay working sometimes. I refuse to touch it again so God help me if I ever need to reset the cable modem and it knocks the network offline. *lmao*

Lol! I have no idea what's wrong with this one. My computer works fine at [livejournal.com profile] loriel_eris's house! Who knows!

My Dell is great and I've not had a problem with it :o)

It's been dropped, and generally goes through hell and back (also known as it goes to school with me everyday and I've been known not to secure it into it's straps in the bag properly).

:o)

Then again, I only bought this one (Latitude D620 with extra RAM) in September, so they could have improved things.

I got the impression that the main problem was with the Inspiron series, which is the one that I'm typing on now. I didn't actually see the complaints; Catherine, who owns the computer, was the one who was looking at it.
