We seem to think about things in the same way! (also, lol at me having Roman Catholic at the bottom of the list, seeing as it was the religion they tried to bring me up with).

Yeah! After all, Malta is pretty religious! I guess you're rebelling! *g*

And at least you're allowed to read Harry Potter! I still can't get over the fact that some people in the US think that Harry Potter is the work of Satan!

Not so much rebelling as was too intelligent to ever fall for it in the first place. And yes, Malta is uber!religious. Lol, like this one time, I was with one of my best friends who knows me quite well and someone else who was talking about religion and I happily announced out loud that I was an atheist and my friend was like O.o And then the other person said "oh, so you only believe in yourself?" and I replied "I believe that you don't HAVE to believe in this stuff in order to still be a good person". Sheesh. Ok, will stop ranting.

Don't start me about that, in general people like HP here but I DO know some people who have stopped their kids from reading it and seeing the films, and ever since the pope spoke out against it I even had an argument with my granddad about the subject(and we never usually argue). *sigh* People are so stupid. Fantasy has been around since forever and the only thing I might have got out of HP that I didn't through other books is alot of great friends from fandom.

Being an atheist doesn't mean you only believe in yourself, though! It just means that you don't believe there is a higher power dictating the world. Well, anyway, since we're on the same page, we don't need to get into a discussion, because we'll just be agreeing with each other!

One thing I'll say for Malta's religious aspect, though. They are forever celebrating something! And their churches and cathedrals are awesome works of art!

Don't get me started about fantasy and religion. If I hear one more person tell me that Lord of the Rings was written as an allegory for Christianity I will commit some kind of crime!! Probably grevious bodily harm!!! Tolkien said himself that it wasn't an allegory!!!! Argh!!! *ahem* Anyway ... *g* Sorry!

*nods* true, true ;)

Yes, the churches and cathedrals are nice....but try living close to churches (there are 3 around where I live) in summer with the bells ringing all the time and fireworks from morning to evening! The noise KILLS me :(

GAH! Same here! It makes me want to go stabstabbitystabstab!

Lol! The first time I visited Malta, my parents warned me about the fireworks. It was in August. We arrived pretty early in the day, but there weren't any going off that day. First thing in the morning, though, I thought there was a thunderstorm happening directly overhead! It woke me up, and it took me a full five minutes to realise that it was the famous fireworks!

Living in Valletta (we were moored on Manoel Island) meant that the noise ricocheted round and round. Initially I was so jumpy every time one went off, but after a while I didn't even flinch! It got so that I never even noticed the fireworks going off.

When we visited again a couple of years later in September, the first thing we noticed was the lack of fireworks. I'm not sure why there weren't any going off, but in our 10 days there, I think we heard about three!

Oh yes! I'll join you in the stabitystabstab!! *g* Or maybe just an arrow through the forehead, like Legolas! *g*
