FTP help!

Okay, I want to upload some files to my website, but it's been so long since I last did it that I can't remember how I did it! Also, I'm now using Firefox, so that's a slight hinderance. I have managed to access my file directory on the internet, but I haven't the foggiest on how to upload files to it!

Any ideas, guys?

I use Smart FTP, it should be free to download and use if it's for personal use only. It's very good for uploading stuff :) You just need to enter the domain name, your username, and password. And then it's all drag-and-drop or copy & paste, however you prefer to work.

We used to use it at the webdesign company I worked for, and I found it easy to use so I started using it for my own sites too :D

You know that you can use Spawn of Saten Internet Explorer to ftp? This was the best discovery I made in a year of IT at Uni. *g*

I do use My Network Places sometimes instead, I set it up to access my site. For when I can't be bothered to open a program XD

It's dead easy. Open up IE and type the following in the address bar:

ftp://[username]:[password]@[my-website.com]

Hit return and that's you!

Even better option. Go here, click "install now", click install in the dialogue box that appears, wait til install is finished, restart Firefox and you'll have an FTP programme (FireFTP) in the Tools menu. It'll come up in a new tab and it's easy to set up. (Email me if it's not...)

Yeah, it looks pretty easy. In the minute that I looked at it, I couldn't figure out how to log on to my website, but I'm sure if I had more time, then it'd be obvious!

Towards the top left, click on 'Manage Accounts' and you'll get a drop down menu, click new.

+ Account Name is whatever you want
+ Host is helion.com
+ login is heliona (I assume)
+ password is obvious

:p Hey, right now I have other worries! Maybe tonight or tomorrow I'll get things sorted. Unfortunately, I discovered that despite all the work I've already done re-coding my pages and making new ones, there are a few little things that still need to be changed, so it's not a case of just uploading them and voila!
