These are mainly for [livejournal.com profile] eretria. She inspired me, and plus the flowers on Flores, the Azores were so beautiful that they cried out to be photographed.

Here is a peculiar marine creature that we picked up. There were literally thousands of these in the waters around the Azores. In all our years of sailing, we had never seen anything like these before, and we haven't met anyone who knows what they could be. So if anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

This is a little stray kitten that lives in the wine museum on Pico, the Azores. I couldn't resist taking it's portrait!

Thank you. I've got lots more like them. Like I said, the photos almost took themselves. It was a new digital camera and I was just messing around, experimenting. But the light quality on Flores is amazing - they have practically no air pollution, so everything is really crisp and clean. I'll dig out my panorama shots, so you can see what I mean. I loved taking photos there. I ended up taking over 100 (the perils of a digital camera!)

That's what I thought. Seriously, I must have about 100 photographs of flowers, they were all so pretty!

Great pictures, love the quality too. That water thing looks like some sort of jelly-fish type thing, but I really haven't a clue about such things. The cat is really cute :).

The water thing was more like a squishy ping-pong ball.

There were lots of cats around, in fact we were befriended by two little kittens about an hour after that.

The quality is mainly that good because the air was so clean and the light was so fresh and crystal clear. You really can't go wrong when the elements are working with you!
