In honour of the Oscars next week, there is a quiz on Empire Online about the movie quotes on the Oscar poster. I managed a measley 26/105 without any help. There were a few that I knew but couldn't name the film, which was very annoying!

Anyway, here is the whole list. I'll post the answers in a few days.

1. "It was beauty killed the beast."

2. "Mr. Christian!"

3. "Can't you see I have, you chump? Get me some viskey!"

4. "Sometimes you're so beautiful it just gags me"

5. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!"

6. "I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too!"

7. "I'm asking you to marry me, you little fool."

8. "Rosebud."

9. "Here's looking at you, kid."

10. "No, a golf course is nothing but a pool room moved outdoors."

11. "One's too many and a hundred's not enough."

12. "I've seen nothing. I should have stayed at home and found out what was really going on."

13. "You don't want much. You just want the moon. …with parsley!"

14. "Frailty, thy name is woman!"

15. "Made it, Ma. Top of the world!"

16. "You throw money around like it was money."

17. "All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my closeup."

18. "I am big. It's the pictures that got small."

19. "Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy night."

20. "STELLA!"

21. "Don't shove me, Harve. I'm tired of being shoved."

22. "Shane. Come back!"

23. "Well, what am I? I'm a private no-class dogface. The way most civilians look at that, that's two steps up from nothin'."

24. "I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am."

25. "An Englishman never jokes about a wager, sir."

26. "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy."

27. "Such stupidity is without equal in the entire history of human relations."

28. "I always get the fuzzy end of the lollipop."

29. "It's the story of my life."

30. "You can break a man's skull. You can arrest him. You can throw him into a dungeon. But how do you control what's up here? How do you fight an idea?"

31. "I'm Spartacus."

32. "When you're in love with a married man, you shouldn't wear mascara."

33. "Come in, come in! We won't bite you - till we know you better."

34. "No prisoners! No prisoners!"

Okay, 64 and 100? Are totally ridiculous, since they popped up in the case of 64 in all 6 movies, and in the case of 100 in three movies. ;o)

Yeah, I know, it took me several goes to find out what answer they actually wanted! Apparently, just the name of series of films was what they wanted. (So now you know you'd get at least two right! *g*)

I'm guessing that when you say #2 is Wizard of Oz, you don't mean #2! *g* I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and giving you an extra point. :)

Oh lol, I started off by numbering them '1, 2, 3 etc' for each one I guessed then I realized you wouldn't know which I meant and went back and changed them but I missed that one XD I meant No 6, that was one of the easiest for me cause The Wizard of Oz was one of my fave films as a kid(though I actually like Return to Oz more cause it's darker XD I was surprised to find that the girl who played Dorothy ended up acting in The Craft when she was older).

It's all right! I figured that something like that had happened! *g*

I've only seen Return to Oz once, but I remember it being a lot darker and more gritty than the first one. I also have vague memories of the book of Wizard of Oz being better than the film. (Of course, it could have been the songs that annoyed me!)

Yes, the book(s) are rather better. There are SO many, I doubt I'll ever read them all (though I hope to). I've only read a couple of them so far.

Yeah, I find the film a bit cheesy nowadays XD Return to Oz I still like though, what with the lunatic asylum and the head hunting witch and all :D

I think I've only read the first book. I didn't even realise that there were lots. I don't think I'll go hunting for them, though. I've got lots of other books to get through first! *g*

There are 15 by Baum and even more by someone who continued the series.

See? XD

I have so many books to read too :S I've got the Oz books as eBooks (I looked them up on Amazon and they were a bit pricy :S) so maybe one day I'll get down to reading a few more.

Oh, and re your edit to the post, I only bothered writing the ones I was sure of XD I think a lot of the quotes are from older movies which I've probably not seen.

Yeah, when I found out the answers, I hadn't heard of half the films! Some of the quotes I knew because they're so famous, but I didn't know what the film was called because I hadn't seen it! *g*

okay, let's see how bad I do

Well, you did very well. The Bond you weren't sure about was 'The Spy Who Loved Me' apparently. I guess that was the first time Bond said it, although 'James Bond' was the answer that the quiz I did looked for. (That took me ages to find out: I went through several Bond titles before I figured that out!) *g*

You got 34/105 and all the ones you answered were right. *g*
